What is an Exclamatory Sentence?

An exclamatory sentence expresses sudden outbursts of emotions such as joy, anger, grief, surprise, appreciation, etc.

Examples:

  1. Hurrah! We have defeated the enemy.
  2. Alas! Thousands of people have lost their lives in flood.
  3. Enough! Don’t you dare say that again.
  4. Heavens! It is unbeliaable.
  5. What a pleasent evening we have had!

We can make any word or sentence exclamatory by laying special emphasis on it by using the mark of exclamation.
